Panama Canal / Monthly Canal Operations Summary – March 2018
Monday, 9th April 2018The PCA have just announced Projected Maximum Draft Allowance for Vessels transiting the Neopanamax Locks based on the projected Gatun level for the next weeks
Current max draft for transit in TFW thru the Neopanamax locks: 49 feet
Maximum draft allowance (TFW) / Projected effective date
Under 25.60m (84 feet) 14.63m (48 feet) ->April 22, 2018
Under 25.30m (83 feet) 14.33m (47 feet) ->May 9, 2018
Under 24.99m (82 feet) 14.02m (46 feet) ->to be determined
Even when the dates are not yet firm, since we are just more than 2 weeks away from the first draft reduction we suggest to plan to transit at a max draft in TFW no greater than 48 feet for ships arriving closer to Apr the 17th-18th transiting thru the Neopanamax Locks.
Below you will TENTATIVE dates for the forthcoming maintenance works at locks that would an impact on the daily transit capacity. Most of the time the dates are just announced as FIRM only approx. 3 days earlier by the PCA.
We will keep you posted on any update for the above topics.
